I credit Ben for igniting my passion to study evolution. As a freshman at Southwestern University, I approached Dr. Pierce to assist with his frog call monitoring project. Several years later, we have published two manuscripts together with a third forthcoming, I am in a Ph.D. program in Biology, and we continue to discuss new ideas and projects. At present, he encourages undergraduate research through a long-term ecology monitoring project of a highly endemic salamander, Eurycea naufragia.
