Matt studies several areas of evolutionary biology: systematics, speciation, parthenogenesis, and genome evolution. At UTA, Matt’s enthusiasm for research energizes not only my own work, but of all those around him. He is perhaps best known for fundamental research with Adam Leaché on species tree inference methods. Matt uses parthenogenetic vertebrates as model organisms for evolutionary analyses, thus inspiring my own dissertation work in the Aspidoscelis lizard system.
